Festoon

Festoon has its origins in a scrap of fabric glued into a sample book compiled in Switzerland in the first years of the last century. Its near-abstract take on drapery is, in the original, embellished with tiers of dots. We chose not to retain those, and the simpler design has a subtle 3-D effect we hadn’t discerned before. 

Depending on the colourway and context, its swooping peaks and troughs will recall waves, scales, feathers, and sails as much as they do Victorian swags and jabots. And those varying reference points no doubt contribute to the mid-scale pattern’s versatility. 

Festoon fits right into an English decorative scheme mixing and matching colour and pattern, but it also adds depth and interest to pared down rooms featuring plains and naturals. Whether it’s on a cushion or curtains, we know it has a place in your home.
